Per Espen Stoknes - How to use regenerative energy sources for a sunny future

Per Espen Stoknes, psychologist and economist

Stoknes is an author, entrepreneur, psychologist, economist, business manager, Green-party politician and Senior Lecturer at BI Norwegian Business School. He has been creating efficient strategies based on different energy-scenarios for over 20 years in which the most recent involves a calculation for how 9 billion people can enjoy a high-quality life using solar and wind power.

Stoknes interest for eco-philosophy, which later became eco-psychology, started during his years at the University of Oslo where his biggest influence was the Norwegian philosopher Arne Naess – famous for the term ecosophy. Today Stoknes is an eco-psychologist himself, and has written several essays, held numerous talks and published multiple books on the subject. What We Think About When We Try Not to Think About Global Warming: Toward a New Psychology of Climate Action is his most recent and prominent text. Stoknes will tell us how we can solve the main climate issues in three simple steps.
